What's the role? The College Health Insurance Navigator assists college students and their families in navigating the complex landscape of health insurance options, understanding their benefits, and making informed decisions about their healthcare coverage.
This role is primarily focused on ensuring students understand their health insurance coverage.
This position reports to the Director of Student Health Services and will also provide administrative support to the Director to ensure the smooth operation of college health Services.
What you'll do: Student Education: Provide information sessions and one-on-one consultations to help students and their families understand the basics of health insurance.
Participate in Student and Family Orientation Presentations.
Provide outreach for campus education.
Explain key concepts such as deductibles, copayments, premiums, and out-of-network coverage.
Assist student with determining cost of care.
Educate students, parents, and college staff about insurance policies, explaining what is covered and what is not.
Student Health Insurance Plan: Participate in discussions around options and pricing for the student health insurance for the following year.
Present any challenges or issues with the current plan and thoughts on what can be done to resolve or mitigate the issues.
Insurance Enrollment: In partnership with University Health plans, assist students in enrolling or waiving college-sponsored health insurance plans.
Assist students with the completion of enrollment forms and submit required documents.
Obtain Insurance Information Monitor daily patient schedules for students who may not have current insurance information on file.
Claim Assistance: Aid students in understanding the claims process and submitting claims.
Resolve issues or disputes related to claims.
Facilitate communication between students and insurance providers when necessary.
Plan Comparison: Help students compare and contrast different health insurance plans, considering factors like cost, coverage, in-network providers, and prescription drug coverage.
Offer recommendations based on individual health care needs and budgets.
Annual Renewal Support: Assist students in annual renewal of their health insurance plans.
Provide reminders and updates on important deadlines.
Athletic Claims Athletes are eligible for secondary athletic insurance plan coverage.
Assist students with submitting claims.
Add Athletic policy as a secondary insurance.
Coorespond with AG Administrators regarding athletic claims.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student interactions and insurance-related documents.
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
Customer Service: Address student and family inquiries regarding insurance coverage.
Provide responsive and helpful customer service.
Resource Development: Create educational materials and resources to support student's understanding of health insurance.
Develop guidelines, FAQs, and reference materials.
Prepare and distribute documents, reports, and presentations as needed.
Assist with tasks and projects related to events, meetings, and other duties as assigned.
Data Management: Compile and manage data around special projects.
